The healthcare industry is huge. It is a trusted pillar of society that must remain standing. And by way of its inefficiency, perverse incentives, waste, fraud, tortured public policy, 3rd party insurers, 4th party employer sponsors, and layers of regulation, complexity and risk, the business of healthcare is brimming with opportunity for innovation. But for these very same reasons, the business of healthcare is significantly different than any other. It is harder than any other. Not surprisingly, entrenched legacy HIT companies often lag or simply fail to innovate. But quite surprisingly, many large and well known technology companies have struggled and failed--some multiple times--to successfully bring their technology innovation to fruition in healthcare.
Successfully innovating and driving market adoption in the business of healthcare is virtually impossible without domain expertise, industry contacts, and plenty of battle-earned scar tissue to fortify great ideas and tech know-how. Healthcare Venture Development collaborates with entrepreneurs, intra-preneurs, and investors to validate, fund, and successfully execute innovative healthcare technology businesses.
